Terms of Use

About these terms

TotTap is operated by Ross Shelford. These terms apply when you access or use TotTap. The service is intended only as a simple coordination tool for parents and carers to record and share nappy changes, feeds, solid food and naps within a private care team.

Who may use TotTap

You must be at least 18 years old and able to agree to these terms. You must have authority to provide any child information you enter and to share it with each parent or carer you invite. This means having parental responsibility for every baby in the care team or clear authority from someone who does. TotTap is for personal and household use only, not business, clinical, childcare, professional or institutional use.

Your right to use the app

Subject to these terms, Ross Shelford gives you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use TotTap for its intended purpose. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, extract source code from, or create derivative works from TotTap except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Ownership and information you provide

Ross Shelford and his licensors retain all rights in TotTap, including its software, design, branding and content. You retain any rights you have in information you enter. You give Ross Shelford a limited permission to host, copy, transmit, secure and otherwise process that information only as needed to operate, protect and improve the service in accordance with the Privacy Policy. This permission ends when the information is deleted, subject to lawful retention and short-lived backup copies. This contractual permission is not the separate explicit consent requested before online shared care begins.

Not medical advice

TotTap is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, monitoring or emergency services. Do not rely on the app as the only record for health decisions. Ask a qualified healthcare professional if you are concerned about a child. Do not put diagnoses, clinical measurements, emergency information, or other medical details in a baby name or custom feeding label.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for accurate entries, protecting your device and sign-in method, and sharing family invite links only with trusted carers. Every family member can see every baby in the care team. The family organiser controls baby details, invitations, and carer access. Information created without an account stays only on that device and cannot be recovered by TotTap. You must check the timeline and keep an independent record where accuracy or availability matters. You are responsible for your device, internet connection and any use made through your account unless the use results from TotTap failing to apply reasonable security.

Acceptable use

Do not use TotTap unlawfully, attempt to access another family’s information, interfere with, probe or overload the service, distribute malicious code, scrape data, impersonate another person, or use an invite link that was not intended for you. We may remove content or restrict, suspend or end access where reasonably necessary to protect a person, the service or our legal position, investigate suspected misuse, or comply with law. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us.

Availability and third-party services

Signed-in TotTap is designed to save taps offline and synchronize them later. Information created without an account remains on one device and does not synchronize. No software service can guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent storage or perfect delivery. The app depends on app stores, devices, networks and service providers outside Ross Shelford’s direct control. Check the shared timeline directly when a missed update could matter and keep another record where loss or delay could cause harm.

Accounts and deletion

You can use the native app without an account and delete its on-device information in Settings. You may stop using TotTap or delete a signed-in account at any time in Settings. Creating or joining a shared care team also requires a separate explicit consent for its baby-care records. You can withdraw that consent by deleting your account or contacting r.shelford@hotmail.co.uk. Your access will end, but shared entries may remain for other consenting carers as the Privacy Policy explains. We may restrict access if the service is misused, attacked, or used unlawfully. A family organiser may remove a connected carer’s access. If the organiser deletes their own account while other carers remain, the longest-standing remaining carer becomes the organiser so the shared family can continue.

Changes, withdrawal and future charges

We may change, suspend, replace or withdraw features or the service to improve TotTap, address security or legal issues, respond to provider changes, or change our business. We will give reasonable notice of material adverse changes where practicable. TotTap is free at present. Paid features may be introduced only prospectively after clear pricing and any required agreement are presented to you. We will not charge you retrospectively. You may stop using TotTap and delete your account if you do not accept a material change.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, defective digital content that damages your device where the law provides a remedy, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, Ross Shelford is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms, business losses arising from personal use, or loss caused by your misuse, inaccurate entries, unauthorised invitations, device failure, network failure, or reliance on TotTap outside its stated purpose.

Transfer, waiver and severability

Ross Shelford may transfer TotTap and these terms to a buyer, successor or another operator provided this does not reduce your mandatory rights. You will be told where required and may delete your account. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

The current terms and effective date will remain available in the app. Material changes will be communicated where required. Continued use after a change takes effect means the updated terms apply, but this does not remove any right to reject a change that applicable consumer law gives you.

Governing law

These terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If mandatory consumer law gives you rights or access to courts in the country where you live, nothing in these terms limits those rights.
